SmackDown opens with Dasha Fuentes in the ring to welcome Charlotte Flair.
Dasha also brings out Ruby Riott and her squad to talk about the title match on Sunday. Ruby cuts off Dasha and says she will take it from here. She talks about how this all began in November when Charlotte won the title. She claims Charlotte has been set up for success her whole life because of her family.
Riott says Charlotte being the personification of the women's revolution is a myth, and that's why she formed The Riott Squad. Charlotte says the only myth is that she hasn't had to work for what she has. She claims her failures are always magnified because of who she is and that's why she works so hard. Ruby says she's going to knock Charlotte off her pedastal on Sunday.
Ruby signals her squad to get in the ring and Charlotte takes off her robe to prepare for a fight. Then Bobby Roode's music hits and he appears on the stage. Apparently his presence was enough to stop an attack before it happened.
Randy Orton can. Jinder Mahal (W/ Bobby Roode at commentary)
Roode gets on the apron and yells at Orton, allowing Mahal to take advantage and hit the Khallas for the pin and the win.
Rusev and Nakamura have a confrontation backstage and end up agreeing to a match at Fastlane.
Becky Lynch vs. Carmella
Becky Lynch won
Natalya walks up to Naomi backstage and says Becky got lucky. Nattie warns her to stay away from Becky because she is bad luck. They argue until Naomi challenges Nattie to a tag match with Carmella and Becky as their teammates.
AJ talks about the five men he has to defend the title against this Sunday, but he takes some extra time to address Cena's claim that he will become a 17-time champion.
Ziggler comes down and criticizes AJ for calling himself a man of the people. They trade insults and Dolph says Styles is going to lose because his head isn't in the match. He says the fans will stab him in the back as soon as he lets them down once. He talks about his own journey to the world title and how everyone jumped on his bandwagon. He says the fans don't deserve him because he is the best thing to happen to this company.
Styles says they shouldn't wait until later and they agree to start their match now.
AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn run down to the ring and start attacking both men to cause a DQ.
Shane comes out and instead of making this into a tag match, he adds Baron Corbin and turns this into a Fatal 5-Way match.
AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens vs. Baron Corbin in a Fatal 5 Way Match
Sami Zayn (pinned KO) to get the win.
The show ends with Sami Zayn celebrating his win as everyone looks stunned. Owens finally recovers and looks at Sami on the ramp as he walks away. Dasha comes out and asks Sami why he turned on Owens. Sami brushes it off and says he is the best WWE has and the most underlooked performer on the roster.
Rating: 60/60
