SmackDown

SmackDown opens with an tribute to WWE Hall of Famer "Bullet" Bob Armstrong.

Adam Pearce is with the security team backstage, saying that tonight is a volatile concoction waiting to explode. Roman, Bray, and Strowman are here, Retribution is always looming, and Vince McMahon is here as well!

McMahon gives Pearce a mission tonight. Have all three participants sign the contract for the WWE Universal Championship match for Payback.

Jeff Hardy comes out.

Last week, Hardy was able to steal the Intercontinental Championship from AJ Styles when he accidentally landed a blow to Styles' face with his knee brace, allowing him to hit the Swanton Bomb.

Styles says that Hardy faked the severity of the injury so he could get an "illegal object" in the match. What a monster.

Styles is unable to compete tonight, as he's not medically cleared. Jeff says that's too bad, as he's issuing an open challenge to the IC Championship for anybody in the SmackDown locker room. Of course everyone but Styles.

Sami Zayn has returned! The Original Intercontinental Champion is back and sets up for an IC Unification match. Styles distracts Hardy, allowing Zayn to hit the Helluva Kick on Hardy.

Bray Wyatt's Firefly Fun House starts, with Wyatt and the puppets celebrating.

Wyatt holds up the Universal Championship, happy to be holding it again. As far as Roman? It's great to see him again, Wyatt says. Suddenly, a doorbell rings, and it's Postman Pearce!

Pearce is able to get Bray Wyatt to sign "for The Fiend." That's one down for Pearce, two to go.

Matt Riddle challenges King Corbin to a match. Corbin is only a distraction for Chad Gable to lay him out. Corbin accepts Riddle's offer on behalf of Gable.

Roman Reigns is backstage and says that at Payback, he'll Wreck Everyone & Leave with the Universal Championship that he never lost.

That's not a prediction...that's a spoiler. The camera pans out and Paul Heyman is sitting beside him! Roman Reigns is a Heyman Guy!
