SmackDown Live

SmackDown opens with AJ Styles heading to the ring.

Styles lets the crowd chant his name for a long time before he says he wants to say something to Daniel Bryan's face. It takes Bryan only a few seconds to come out for his response.

Bryan sarcastically acts surprised and says he feels like punching AJ right now. Styles asks what's stopping him and says they don't have to wait until Crown Jewel. Both men immediately prepare for a fight, but they are interrupted by Shane. He says they are having the title match tonight instead of at Crown Jewel. He sends a ref to the ring as we head to a break.

Bryan and AJ show each other respect with a handshake before Samoa Joe appears out of nowhere and attacks them. Bryan tries to save AJ from the Coquina Clutch only to end up in the hold himself.
Joe picks up the WWE Championship and poses with it. It looks like Joe vs. Styles will not only continue, but it might replace Bryan vs. Styles at Crown Jewel.

Backstage, Paige tells Charlotte Flair that her match against Becky Lynch was awesome. Paige asks Flair if she will be the captain of the Smackdown Woman’s team at Survivor Series. Flair says she doesn’t think she is the right woman for the job. Paige asks Flair to just think about it.

We go backstage with Jeff Hardy wondering why people don’t learn to draw and talked about how every battle adds a new color to his self-portrait, every leap a paint stroke, and at World Cup he’ll illustrate his masterpiece and prove that he’s the best in the world.

Miz is also backstage to tell us why he’s going to win World Cup. He’s the best husband in the world, the best father, the best reality star, and so, of course, he’s also the best wrestler in the world, and at Crown Jewel, he’ll get the trophy to prove it.

Backstage Shane tells Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, and the Miz if any of them make it to the finals of the world up and lose to a Raw superstar they will no longer have a spot on the Smackdown Roster.

Backstage Styles asks Paige to give him Joe at Crown Jewel. Paige makes the title match.

Becky Lynch comes out after the break and brags about beating Charlotte at Evolution. She does a great job being a heel here despite the cheers. She talks about facing Ronda Rousey and promises to rip her arm off at Survivor Series. This match just became interesting. Great promo from Becky.

The Miz and Randy Orton vs Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy

Hardy hits Orton with the Whisper in the Wind to give himself some breathing room. Both men make the tag and Mysterio takes Miz down with a springboard senton. He spikes Miz with a DDT for a quick two count. Hardy and Mysterio team up to hit the 619 and the Swanton for the pin and the win. Orton comes in and hits Hardy and Mysterio with RKOs. Then he hits The Miz with one for good measure.

Rating 80/80:

Awesome show and matches.
