SmackDown Live

We are live with WWE SmackDown. The show opens with the segment from last week where The Miz went off on Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack.
Shane is shown telling Daniel Bryan he owes an apology to the miz for saying what he said about The Miz. Bryan says maybe he won't be so honest next time.

The Miz walks to the ring and starts to rant about how it took so long for the WWE Universe to notice him and how the IC title lost its prestige before he became champion.
He tells the fans they have no idea what he goes through with all the press stuff WWE has him do.

The Miz is really going off on the crowd, calling them all failures and cowards. Dolph Ziggler's music hits and he makes his way out.

He says the fans can see through him and that's why they won't get behind him. He gives Miz a pep talk, telling him how he can prove himself to the crowd.

Ziggler challenges Miz to a fight, not a match. He says he can prove his toughness
by taking him up on the challenge right now. Miz hands his title to Maryse and squares off with Ziggler.
He thinks for a moment and then exits the ring. Ziggler says Bryan was right when he called him a soft, safe coward. Miz tries to head back to the ring, but Maryse stops him.


Tag Team Tournament

Hype Bros vs. The Vaudevillians
The Hype Bros won and advances to the semifinals of the tag team tournament.



AJ Styles told the announcer to introduce him as The Face That Runs The Place. He grabs a mic and talks about how Dean Ambrose will learn to fear him.
As he is about to keep talking, Crews' music cuts him off
Crews says Bryan granted him a match against Styles for right now.

Apollo Crews vs. AJ Styles

AJ Styles won.


After the break, we get a special interview with Renee Young and Heath Slater. Rhyno is just hanging out in his living room
He introduces some women who he says is his wife.

Slater says he is lucky to have a partner like Rhyno, and then his wife burps. Renee looks so uncomfortable. Meanwhile, Rhyno is just silently eating crackers.


Bray Wyatt makes his way to the ring to talk about Randy Orton.
Wyatt says he knows Orton is just a man, and that excites him. He says Randy is sick, but that's why Wyatt likes him so much.
He talks about how the voices in Orton's head should be telling him to run, but then Orton's music hits and he makes his way to the ring.
Orton says he has been damaged for a long time, and it's what gives him most of his charm. He says Wyatt has his attention and Wyatt says this is the predator he wanted to see.
Wyatt says he respects Orton, but at Backlash, he will cut off the serpents head. Orton recalls some of the scars he has received over the years, but says the ones Wyatt needs to worry about are internal.
Orton agrees to a match at Backlash, but says he won't be afraid of Wyatt one bit. He rushes the ring, but the lights go out before he can do anything.


We will see a women's six pack challenge for the SmackDown's Women's championship at backlash.


Natalya and Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch and Naomi w/ Nikki Bella at commentary.
Natalya and Alexa Bliss won with the help of the distraction of Carmella attacking Nikki Bella.

Tag Team Tournament

Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. Headbangers

Heath Slater and Rhyno won and advances to the semifinals of the tag team tournament.


Gary ''The Milkman'' wanted a match,
He says he won't leave until someone comes out to face him. He strips down to his underwear to wrestle, and then Kane heads to the ring.
He tries to put his clothes back on so he can leave, but he is too late. Kane hits a chokeslam before leaving.


Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin w/ AJ Styles at commentary.

Ambrose with the big elbow drop for a 2 count. Styles gets on the apron and dodges a shot from Ambrose. Corbin rolls Ambrose up for 2. Corbin blocks Dirty Deeds and runs Ambrose into AJ on the apron. The referee calls for the bell.


No Contest

Styles and Ambrose fight at ringside, and Corbin joins in to take out his frustrations. Ambrose hits him with Dirty Deeds and then trips Styles on the top rope when he tries to springboard in.
Ambrose mocks him as he shakes the ring ropes to add more pain to his injury. He jokingly shakes Styles' hand before taking his title and heading to the back.


Rating: 50/50

RAW

Recap of what happened last week on RAW

We see all four competitors in the ring with the title and Corey Graves hosting this segment.

Rollins brags about putting Balor on the shelf and forcing him to relinquish the title. He says he is so confident, he will donate his speaking time to Kevin Owens.

As KO is talking, a Fight Owens Fight chant breaks out. Owens runs down all three of his opponents with some hilarious insults.


Big Cass tells Rollins that size matters.

Instead of talking, Reigns takes out Owens while Big Cass sends Rollins out of the ring. As Cass and Reigns come face to face, Rollins comes out of nowhere and shoves Reigns into the big Cass.
Reigns sends both of them out of the ring and then stands next to the title belt.


Chris Jericho vs. Neville
Chris Jericho won


Gallows and Anderson give a promo about how they attacked The Dudley Boyz during their retirement segment last week.
They say they will retire The New Day when they face them with Nurse Dana Brooke tonight.

New Day and Bayley vs. Anderson and Gallows and Dana Brooke w/ Charlotte at commentary.

Braun Strowman won


Stephanie McMahon heads to the ring to talk about what Brock Lesnar did to her brother at SummerSlam.

Stephanie says Lesnar crossed the line and she was not happy about it. Then Paul Heyman interrupts her as he heads to the ring.

he apologizes to Stephanie for Brock's actions. Heyman pulls out a gigantic stack of money so he can pay Lesnar's fine one dollar at a time.
Stephanie slaps it out of his hand and Stephanie asks what value Heyman brings to Raw. She says she will avenge her brother and warns Heyman of a storm coming his way.
Heyman backtracks and apologizes to her, but in a very slimy way. She accepts it and leaves as he smiles.


During RAW we seen video packages for all 4 men completing for the Universal Championship later tonight.

Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens vs. Big Cass for the Universal Championship in a fatal 4 way elimination match. W/ Stephanie and Mick Foley at ringside

Big Cass was eliminated

Triple H comes out of nowhere and hits Reigns with a Pedigree before rolling him back in. He sends Rollins in the ring to cover him for the pin.

Triple H goes around the ring and grabs Owens to roll him back in the ring. He gets in the ring and tells Rollins they are going to finish this.
Then he turns around and hits Rollins with a Pedigree after giving Owens the nod. Owens covers him and gets the win to become the new universal champion.

Triple H gives Foley and mean look before walking right past his wife and out through the crowd where he came from.
The crowd chants You Deserve It as Owens continues celebrating with the title as the show comes to an end.

Thoughts of KO being the Universal Champion?

SmackDown Live

We start with several people in the locker room talking when AJ Styles walks in and declares himself the new face that runs the place.
He ends up insulting Dolph Ziggler and a fight breaks out. The heels hold back Styles while the babyfaces hold back Ziggler.

Shane McMahon making his way to the ring with Daniel Bryan.
We get our first look at the new tag and women's titles in the ring. They are similar to Raw's belts, but have blue in the design instead of red. Also, the tag titles have silver plates instead of bronze.

6-Pack Challenge Match will determine the first-ever SmackDown Women's Champion at Backlash

Tag Team Tournament for the new SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship

They reveal the new champions will be crowned at Backlash in a few weeks.

Slater he says he wants to win a title, and Bryan says he doesn't have the right equipment to challenge for the women's title.
Slater says he was talking about the tag titles and says he can find a partner. Bryan says if he can find a partner, he will get a spot in the tournament. Shane adds he has to win the tournament to win a spot on the roster.
Then AJ Styles comes out and is immediately attacked by Dolph Ziggler. Shane orders the roster to break them up.

Tag Tournament
The Usos vs. The Ascension
The Usos won and advances.


AJ Styles makes his way to the ring.
He grabs a mic and brags about beating Cena at SummerSlam. He shows off the armband Cena left in the ring at SummerSlam as a memento.
He claims he should be the No. 1 contender for the WWE title. We see Ziggler trying to come down the ramp and being held back by officials, including Billy Kidman.
Bryan comes out and says he won't let them ruin the show. Bryan books them in a match against each other.


Nikki Bella vs. Carmella

Renee Young tries to interview Nikki before the match, but Carmella attacks her turning heel. She grabs Nikki and drops her face into the mat.
It looks like she is going to leave, but then she comes back and delivers a Bella Buster.


Photo recap of Lesnar vs. Orton, The Viper makes his way out to the ring.
He shows off the 10 staples he received at the hands of Lesnar at SummerSlam and says he knew what he was getting into, but he would have rather left on a stretcher than have the match end the way it did.
As he is saying he will see Lesnar again, the lights go out and Bray Wyatt's music hits.
Wyatt sits in his rocking chair in the aisle and asks how Orton's head is. He says Orton is just a man while calling himself a god.
The lights drop out again, and when they come back on, Wyatt is gone. Orton looks around for a moment.
We go backstage to see Shane talking to Charles Robinson.
Shane is interviewed about Lesnar and he doesn't seem to want to talk about it. He says his feud with Lesnar is far from over.

Brock Lesnar did get fined 500 dollars for his actions at SummerSlam


Slater is shown asking Arn Anderson to be his tag team partner. Anderson is unhappy to find out he wasn't the first choice and walks away.
We see Rhyno walk up and suggest he and Slater partner up.


Dean Ambrose is interviewed backstage and he says he doesn't care who he faces at Backlash. He is wearing a foam cowboy hat and has a coffee delivered by a waitress while he is talking


Tag Team Tournament

Breezango vs. American Alpha

American Alpha won and advances to round 2



Dolph Ziggler vs. AJ Styles w/ Dean Ambrose at commentary


AJ Styles won.  The match at backlash is just between AJ and Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship.

They stare each other down to close the show.

Great show. Awesome start to lead us to Backlash, and we got new championship titles which is awesome.
