SmackDown Live

SmackDown opens up with The Miz and Maryse heading to the ring.

We see footage of Maryse's interference in the win over Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam.

Miz said he closed his eyes to feel the moment. Two nights ago at SummerSlam, something happened. Miz says he has a family to think about. Miz starts to cry. Maryse hugs Miz. With a heavy heart, Miz announces that he is retiring… from ever facing Daniel Bryan again. Miz says the eight-year saga of the Miz and Daniel Bryan has come to a conclusion. Miz did what he said he was going to do. Miz beat Bryan in the Barclay Center. Bryan gave Miz everything he had but it wasn’t enough. Miz says he has the hardest punch in the WWE. It’s now time to start Miz’s new life as he watched the new episode of Miz and Mrs. right here on the USA Network.

Bryan comes out on the ramp. Bryan calls Mis a coward. Miz tries to speak and Bryan calls Miz a coward over and over again. Miz stands behind Maryse and tells Bryan that the record books will not say “coward” It just says the Miz beat Bryan at SummerSlam. Miz says Bryan will never have a chance to go up against him ever again. Bryan tells Miz to shut up. Bryan says Miz cheated to win. It’s just another layer in the facade that is the Miz. Bryan says he is going to expose Miz for the wanna-be Hollywood actor cosplaying as a wrestler. Maryse grabs a mic and tells Bryan to retire and change his name to Daniel Bella. Brie Bella runs down to the ring. Maryse rolls out of the ring. Miz steps in front of Brie. Brie punches Miz over and over again. Bryan tells Miz that at Hell in a Cell Miz and Maryse will face Bryan and Brie.

Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy

Hardy trips him and stomps him below the belt to get himself disqualified. He knocks Orton out of the ring and throws him over the announce table.

Randy Orton won by DQ.

Orton tries to get control, but Jeff continues to beat him all around the ringside area. They fight through the crowd into the production area. Hardy uses a chair to inflict more damage before laying Randy on top of a table. Hardy climbs onto some equipment boxed and puts Orton through a table with a Swanton Bomb.

Noami Vs. Peyton Royce

Peyton Royce won

Becky Lynch comes out and says she deserves to be standing in the ring as the women’s champion and Charlotte deserved the beating she got for stealing her moment. She talks about how she fought to earn her title shot as the crowd chants her name. She says the crowd acts like they like her but she questions if they were really behind her the whole time.
Charlotte comes out and throws down the women's title before tackling Lynch in the ring. They trade punches back and forth and roll out of the ring. After several officials fail to break up the fight, Paige calls the whole division to the ring to get between them. Even a dozen women have a hard time keeping them separated.

Renee Young welcomes AJ Styles to the ring for an interview after a replay of his match with Samoa Joe is shown. AJ has trouble coming up with the right words.

AJ says SummerSlam didn't end the way he wanted but he doesn't regret what he did to Samoa Joe because Joe crossed a line. He promises to rip Joe's heart out if he ever mentions his family again. Joe appears next to the stage and pulls AJ down to put him in the Coquina Clutch. He chokes out the champ and then grabs a mic to address Wendy Styles directly. He says AJ won't be home to tuck in the kids

tonight because he is already asleep.
