SmackDown Live


Randy Orton kicks off SmackDown by heading to the ring.





We get a video highlighting the attack on The New Day by Orton and Revival on RAW last night.



“Unlike Kofi Kingston, I am not a liar," claims Orton, as he declares the WWE Champion to be "stupid"


New Day's music hits and Kofi sneaks in behind Orton to deliver Trouble in Paradise. The WWE Champion grabs a steel chair and wraps Orton's ankle with it. Kingston is about to jump on it when The Revival come down to save The Viper. Kofi fights them off with the chair while Orton escapes the ring.



Andrade Almas vs. Apollo Crews (KOTR Round 1)

Rowan and Daniel Bryan bring a hoodie, disguised figure into a backstage room, they threaten him and say to not move from that spot. 






A Moment of Bliss 


Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross come out for another talk show segment so they can interview Charlotte Flair. The Queen comes out in street clothes and says she should be sitting in the throne that is on the stage, not Alexa's chair.


Bayley comes out after Flair talks some trash about her. The Hugger says she is the champion and that makes her better than Charlotte. The Queen says people were talking about her match with Trish, not Bayley vs. Moon. She promises to beat Bayley at Clash of Champions and Bayley says she accepts her challenge. Bayley shoves Charlotte over in the chair before leaving.

The Miz welcomes Sami Zayn to his show. Zayn admits he has been losing a lot lately, but he had an epiphany last night. He says he got caught up in the WWE trap of greed. He says he has realized the right path is to help other people. Miz asks who he wants to help, and Sami says he has someone backstage who fits the bill. Shinsuke Nakamura's music hits and he heads to the ring.

Sami gives a rant about Nakamura not being able to properly express himself. Miz tries to talk to Shin but the IC champ just points to Sami. It ends with Nakamura taking Miz down with a kick and a Kinshasa. Nakamura keeps attacking him until Zayn tells him to stop.



Elias vs. Kevin Owens (KOTR Round 1)

Elias won thanks to the involvement of Shane and advances in the KOTR.



Now we're about to find out who Bryan and Rowan have backstage 
and, it’s just some dude with a red beard. Reigns just looks confused at the situation and this ends the show.

RAW


Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring to kick off the show.


After a video plays recapping the recent attacks against Reigns, Dolph Ziggler makes his way to the ring. Dolph says he wants to be a gentleman and claims he is glad Reigns is ok. Then he says he doesn't get why Reigns is getting so much attention for almost getting hurt. He says being Speared by Goldberg was worse.

Ziggler nails Reigns with a superkick out of nowhere before the match begins.

Also, before King's Court, we're treated to a "Recorded Earlier Today" interview with Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch, responding to Sasha's attack.


As Lawler talks about the King of the Ring tournament, the lights go out. He gets out of the ring but Bray Wyatt attacks him on the stage anyway. The Fiend brings him down with the Mandible Claw.

AJ Styles (c) vs. Braun Strowman for the USTitle 


Gallows superkicks him to cause a DQ when he is about to hit the powerslam.


The OC continue to destroy Braun until Universal Champion Seth Rollins makes the save.

Seth shakes Braun's hand after the save, although Strowman held on a little bit long, suggesting some tension between the two.



Rollins catches up with Strowman backstage and knows that Strowman sets his eyes on his title and if it was up to him that he would be his next challenger and then he asks Strowman if he wants to take on Anderson and Gallows for the tag titles tonight.






Cesaro vs. Samoa Joe (KOTR Round 1)

Elias keeps having sound issues during his final performance. R-Truth is there as his roadie and gives him a new guitar. He reveals himself and then we see Maverick there with him. Truth rolls him up for a couple of two counts. He hits the scissor kick and Elias still kicks out. Truth grabs a guitar and tries to hit Elias. The singer rolls out of the ring with his belt and leaves up the ramp.





Mysterio gets a little choked up while talking to Charly. He says things have not been going his way and this day comes for everyone. He says it's time for him to hang up his mask and retire. He is about to take it off when his son comes in and stops him. He gives Rey a pep talk and says he wants Rey to be his partner when he finally debuts. Rey says he will do it for his son, and they hug.





The New Day vs. The Revival



Dawson attacks Woods to prevent Midnight Hour. Randy Orton runs in and hits Big E with an RKO out of nowhere



Orton makes Kofi watch as The Revival tries to break Woods' leg with a double team move.







Now it's time for Michael Cole to talk to Sasha Banks, since she can't talk to Jerry Lawler.



Cole asks Banks to explain her actions. 



Banks thanks Cole for this time, and then begins to explain why she changed her hair color.



Cole asks Banks to address her attack on Natalya and Becky Lynch "We would thank you for addressing these issues"

Banks simply responds with "You're welcome" and walks off the set.

The Show ended with Rollins and Strowman celebrating as the New RAW Tag Team Champions.

SmackDown Live


Kevin Owens comes out at the top of the show and the fans chant his name before he can speak. He eventually talks about his match against Shane McMahon and says SummerSlam will be a night he will remember forever.

Owens moves on to the King of The Ring tourney and says he will win it and cement his name in history. Shane McMahon comes out and Owens collapses out of frustration. He and Owens exchange the usual insults.

Shane fines Owens 100K for hitting Elias, who was an official, with a steel chair. KO protests but Shane says he won't reverse the fine.



Charlotte Flair vs. Ember Moon

Bryan and Rowan come out after the break to address the accusations against them. Bryan says someone is out to get Roman Reigns but claims they had nothing to do with the attacks. Bryan says society is the problem and lies spread through social media.

Kevin Owens vs. Samoa Joe

Elias pulls the ref out of the ring. Joe rolls up Owens and Elias makes the fast count to give Joe the win


Rowan and Bryan are now confronting Buddy Murphy backstage, trying to intimidate him into admitting that he lied about Rowan attacking Reigns.

Rowan got impatient and just starts beating the crap out of him.

Murphy "admits" that he lied.

Daniel Bryan says he doesn't like liars.

Murphy gets tossed across the room.


Randy Orton comes out and says Kofi took the easy way out at SummerSlam. He suggests he and Kofi join the tag match with New Day and Revival to make it a six-man. Kingston accepts the challenge.

After a post-match brawl, Orton ends up hitting Kofi with the RKO to be the last man standing. Instead of continuing to attack Kingston, Orton grabs Woods and hits another RKO. Dawson and Wilder help him hit another on Big E before Orton grabs Kofi to deliver one final RKO to end the show. 
As we get near the last few minutes of the show, Roman Reigns confronts Bryan and Rowan backstage. Bryan and Rowan insist that Reigns apologize. Bryan and Rowan insist they know who attacked Reigns and they'll let everyone know next week.

RAW



Raw opens with a recap of Seth Rollins beating Brock Lesnar last night for the Universal Championship.




Seth comes out looking tired but happy to have the universal title back. He says he wasn't sure he would beat The Beast last night. He puts Lesnar over as everything you would expect him to be in the ring. He says it was the crowd that got him through the match.

 
AJ Styles' music hits and he comes out with Anderson and Gallows.



Styles congratulates him but says Rollins now has to worry about the man standing in front of him. He challenges Rollins because he wants to prove he is a better champion. Seth says he lost respect for AJ and he never backs down from a fight. He accepts the challenge and promises to teach Styles some respect. AJ holds out his hand for a shake and even sends Anderson and Gallows out of the ring to prove he is being genuine. Rollins shakes his hand hesitantly.

Ziggler grabs a mic and says Maryse is a better wrestler than him. Miz comes back in and hits his finisher to shut Ziggler up.






Elias says he wants to have an uninterrupted performance but he is quickly interrupted by Ricochet. Elias calls for a ref so they can settle this.

R-Truth’s music hits and he runs down the ramp being chased by Drake Maverick and tons of other Superstars. The Revival hit their finisher on Truth and pin him together to become co-champions. Carmella helps Truth pins Dawson to regain the belt



Elias hits Truth with his guitar backstage and pins him to become the 24/7 champion.





As Natalya tries to give a heartfelt promo, Sasha Banks' music hits and she comes to the ring.



Banks gives Nattie a hug before attacking her. She takes off a pink wig to reveal new blue hair. She starts unloading on Natalya and goes after her injured arm. The crowd chants Thank You Sasha as she throws Natalya into the steps.



Becky Lynch runs down to the ring to make the save. She and Sasha fight in and out of the ring. Banks grabs a chair and uses it to hit Lynch in the back several times.





The Viking Raiders vs. Jobbers

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross vs. Kairi Sane and Asuka for the Women Tag Team Titles

Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles (Champion vs. Champion)


The ref figured out what happened and boots them from ringside. Rollins avoids a Pele kick and hits a side kick to the face. Anderson and Gallows attack Rollins to cause a DQ.

Ricochet tries to come help Rollins, but Anderson and Gallows take him out with The Boot of Doom. Braun Strowman's music hits and he runs down to the ring. He takes out Anderson and Gallows before hitting Styles with a huge powerslam. The show ends with Strowman grabbing the universal title and handing it to Rollins. They shake hands but this might lead to something more in the future.



The show ends with Rollins, Strowman and Ricochet standing tall.

The Kickoff Panel consist of Charly, Coach, David Otunga, and Beth Phoenix and they hype tonight’s match card.

Drew Gulak retains the Cruiserweight Championship.




Apollo Crews vs. Buddy Murphy 


The match is suddenly broken up with the involvement of Erick Rowan. Rowan attacks Buddy Murphy. He repeatedly throws him against the barrier again and again, before he runs through him.


This was obviously in response to the fact that Murphy had pointed out Rowan as the culprit of the Roman attack. Rowan sends Buddy Murphy into the ring post with a huge powerbomb.

Elias is out and he is doing his usual schtick of insulting the town with a promo.



OH MY GOD! It’s EDGE! Edge has interrupted Elias.


The Rated - R Superstar is making his way out to his hometown to one of the biggest pops in a while.

Ziggler grabs a mic and says Goldberg won't fight him man to man, so Goldberg heads back to the ring. Ziggler gets back to his feet and Goldberg hits him with another Spear.


Ziggler gets a mic and talks some more trash, so Goldberg comes back down for round three. He picks Ziggler up and gets a running start so he can hit one last Spear.

Great show and matches. However, I wish WWE Network was working a bit better tonight it had so much buffering throughout the show. So that was annoying, but the show was great though.

SmackDown Live


SmackDown opens with Charlotte Flair making her way to the ring


Charlotte talks a bunch of trash about Trish Stratus and says the athletes of today are superior to yesterday. She shows a video of her own career highlights. The video changes to highlights of Trish's career and Charlotte looks pissed.



Dolph Ziggler vs. Rey Mysterio

Dolph Ziggler does Goldberg's signature entrance for his upcoming match.


Ziggler attacks Rey Mysterio during his entrance. He takes out the luchador with a superkick at ringside before grabbing a mic to brag about putting down a legend. He says SummerSlam will be Goldberg's last match.

We get a recap of how someone has had it out for Roman Reigns in recent weeks. We'll hear from Roman himself after the next commercial break.


Roman Reigns says that he's always known who's been after him but the incidents of the past two weeks have left him shaken because now he has to constantly look over his shoulder. He says that WWE has offered him security but he's used to rolling on his own.

Reigns says he is sorry for Samoa Joe's name being dragged into his drama but also says he has no idea who attacked him.





We get a touching tribute from WWE for the legendary Harley Race who passed away earlier this week.



Ember Moon vs. Natalya 


Natalya takes her down with a clothesline and locks in the Sharpshooter at ringside. The ref counts them both out as she refuses to break the hold. Bayley runs down to make the save for her SummerSlam opponent. Natalya shoves her and walks away.



Kevin Owens is out next for the KO show with special guest Shane McMahon. Owens stops Greg Hamilton from giving Shane a long intro so he can get his show started. KO says he thinks Shane should put his career on the line at SummerSlam. Shane, obviously, disagrees. 

KO tries to goad McMahon, but it doesn't seem to be working. Elias comes in and helps Shane attack Owens. KO gets the upper hand and throws Shane over the announce table. He cleans the table off and prepares for a powerbomb. Elias stops him but Owens hits him with a Stunner on the table. Shane trips Owens and unloads on him with punches. He tips the table onto Kevin and dropkicks a chair into his face.





Zayn comes out and says he challenged Aleister Black to a match at SummerSlam. Black comes out and says the match is happening now instead.

Rowan uses a set of steps on Woods to cause a DQ.



Reigns is shown asking Murphy about who attacked him. After some coercion, Murphy reveals he saw Rowan at the sight of the first accident. The show goes off the air with Bryan and Rowan seeing all of this from the tron.

RAW


The WWE roster is out for a moment of silence to pay tribute to the victims of the El Paso and Dayton mass shootings.




The intro is interrupted by Samoa Joe standing on the announce table. He says people have been accusing him of taking out Reigns last week. Graves tries to talk some sense into him, but Joe just gets more upset.


Samoa Joe makes Cole rewind the footage in response to Cole saying that "fans voted in a poll" and 80% voted thinking Joe is the culprit. He also said that he just conducted a poll and called 80% of the WWE Universe idiots.


Becky Lynch makes her way out for the first match of the night despite Joe saying he wouldn't leave the stage until Reigns showed up.

Natalya refuses to break the 5-count and her team gets DQ'd. She drags Lynch to the center of the ring, but Stratus breaks it up and Natalya shoves the legend away. There's a tense stare down but Natalya walks away as Stratus helps the champion.



Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade Almas 


Andrade Almas won with the help of Vega. 




Mike Kanellis pins his wife while she is at the doctor's office and runs out with the title. R-Truth is hiding in the waiting area wearing women's clothes and he rolls Mike up to regain his title. He grabs Carmella and runs away with his baby.



Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman make their way to the ring after the break.


They show a replay of Lesnar destroying Rollins last week. Heyman says Seth is in Pittsburgh and says the crowd shouldn't cheer for someone who is so self-destructive. This brings Rollins out to respond. He limps his way onto the stage with a steel chair.


Rollins tries to hit Brock with the chair but runs right into a kick to his injured ribs. Lesnar picks up the chair and hits him in the ribs again. The Beast proceeds to tear him apart once again.


Brock poses with his title over a fallen Rollins before the show cuts to commercial.



Rollins asks for a mic after the break and says he has been asking himself if all of this is worth it. He says he loves WWE so much and wants to protect it even if it keeps getting him beaten to a pulp every week. He vows to be at SummerSlam and take the title back from Lesnar.

We see a video package honoring Harley Race.





Drew McIntyre vs. Cedric Alexander - Kurt Angle as special guest referee 



Drew McIntyre attacks Cedric Alexander during his entrance and beats him all around the ring. He goes for the reverse Alabama slam, but Alexander reverses it and hits a big DDT on the floor. The lights go out and Bray Wyatt appears in the ring to attack Kurt Angle. He brings him down with his version of the Mandible Claw before the lights go out again and he disappears.




The New Day vs. The OC



The match never really gets started as AJ Styles joins Anderson and Gallows in beating down Big E and Xavier Woods. Graves says Kofi is not in Pittsburgh, but Ricochet's music hits and he runs down to make the save.

Samoa Joe comes out and demands Roman Reigns come out to apologize for other people accusing him of being behind the attack last week. Someone tells Joe that Reigns just arrived, so he heads to the parking lot.


As Joe goes to meet Reigns in the parking lot, a car crashes into Reigns' SUV. 



The IIconics (C) vs. Asuka and Kairi Sane vs. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross in a Fatal 4 Way for the Women Tag Titles 

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross won and is the New Women Tag Team Champions.



The Miz is in the ring for MizTV. He brings out Shawn Michaels to oversee his contract signing with Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler talks some trash before he signs on the dotted line. The Miz says he can't wait to face Ziggler next Monday on Raw. Ziggler looks confused.

The Miz reveals Ziggler is facing someone else. He looks at Shawn but HBK says it's not him. Goldberg's music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Ziggler bails before Goldberg gets to the ring. The former WCW champion picks up the contract and signs it in the ring.

Goldberg tells Ziggler he's next before HBK lays him out with Sweet Chin Music to end the show.
