SmackDown Live

SmackDown opens with a recap of last week's main event featuring Zayn, Owens, Orton and Nakamura.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are shown passing out fliers for their Yep Movement. Back in the arena, AJ Styles comes out to deliver a promo about his match against Jinder Mahal on Sunday.


He is then interrupted by The Singh Brothers, They replay Mahal attacking them two weeks ago and AJ says he kind of feels sorry for them. He offers them the chance to hug it out.


Styles and the Singhs hug it out and they offer to be in his corner on Sunday. They swear they are done with Mahal and tell stories of how they were treated. AJ questions their motivations and shows pictures of them with Mahal in India last week. They still claim to be done with Jinder for good. AJ seems to believe them and offers his hand. Mahal's music interrupts and he makes his way to the ring. Styles accuses the Singhs of trying to fool him 


Styles dispatches both Singh Brothers with ease while Mahal watches from the aisle. After AJ tosses them out of the ring, Mahal checks on them to make sure they are OK.




Charlotte Flair vs. Ruby Riot w/ Natalya on commentary

Nattie finally lays her out with a clothesline to cause a DQ
Naomi makes her return to save Charlotte from a three on one attack. She sends The Riott Squad running up the ramp, but then Carmella, Tamina and Lana come out and attack them on the stage. 


Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler  w/ Bobby Roode on commentary 

Roode comes in the ring and hits the Glorious DDT to Ziggler to get revenge for last week and cause a DQ. He does the same thing to Corbin to end the segment standing tall.


The Bludgeon Brothers  vs. Jobbers

Owens and Zayn come down to the ring after the break and declare the Yep Movement has arrived. 
Owens asks anyone who wants to join them to come to the ring, but only Daniel Bryan shows up. He does his Yes chant all the way to the ring. KO calls Bryan the inspiration for their movement. He asks what they are doing.
Bryan says the Yes Movement was never about him, it was about the fans. Bryan offers to be the second guest referee in their tag match on Sunday to make sure things are fair.



The Usos vs. Aiden English and Rusev 

Aiden English and Rusev won


Jinder Mahal attacks AJ Styles during a backstage interview and leaves him knocked out.



Orton comes out and gives a quick promo to hype their tag team match. Nakamura agrees with what he says by saying "Yep"!



Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Owens  w/ Orton and Zayn at ringside and Daniel Bryan at commentary.

Owens accidentally hits the ref. Bryan takes off the ref's shirt and puts it on before getting in the ring.

The show ends with Owens declaring nobody will take their careers away from them and they are the best in WWE.

SmackDown Live

Daniel Bryan comes out to get the show started to a big ovation.

After taking a long time to soak up the love from his hometown crowd, Bryan announces a six-woman tag match for tonight. He also hypes a special announcement from Jinder Mahal and Ziggler vs. Roode in a rematch from HIAC. Then he brings up Sami Zayn and how disappointed he was with him at HIAC. This brings Zayn out. 

Bryan says he never expected Zayn to do what he did at HIAC. Sami says he and Bryan have a lot of similarities, but Bryan always had the crowd and he didn't. He claims he feels amazing since taking ownership of his career and tells Bryan to lose his martyr complex.
Zayn says Bryan put his body through hell just to end up a housewife. Before Bryan can respond, Kevin Owens comes out and takes the insults even further by calling Bryan a failure. Bryan says KO doesn't care about Sami or anyone else because he only cares about himself. Owens says Bryan has become The Authority and Sami agrees with him. Zayn calls him a sellout.
Bryan decides to leave instead of engaging them any further. Owens says all Bryan can do these days is walk out of the arena and Bryan says he is going to go find a couple of dudes to punch them in the face.

Six Women Tag Team Match


Charlotte and Becky Lynch and Noami vs. Natalya and Tamina and Lana w/ Carmella at commentary


Charlotte and Becky Lynch and Noami won


Natalya tries to attack Charlotte after the match, but The Queen turns the tables and chases after Nattie with a chair until she escapes through the crowd.

Daniel Bryan is shown backstage telling KO and Zayn they will be facing Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura tonight.

Jinder Mahal issues a challenge to Brock Lesnar for Survivor Series. AJ Styles comes out and says Mahal may have beaten some top guys, but he has never defeated The Prince of Phenomenal. Jinder says AJ is a loser and there is no worthy competition on SmackDown. Styles says if he is a loser, then Mahal shouldn't be afraid to defend the title against him.
Styles ends up attacking Mahal and the Singh Brothers. He is able to send all three of them out of the ring to end the segment standing tall.


Bobby Roode vs. Dolph  Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler won by grabbing onto Roode's tights.



Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. KO and Sami Zayn


Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn won

Zayn and Owens run into Bryan backstage and he tells them Shane McMahon will be booking their match for next week. KO and Zayn come back out to the arena chanting Yes and bragging about their win over Nakamura and Orton on the mic.

The show opens with a recap of last week's main event where AJ Styles became the new U.S. champion.

AJ Styles (C) vs. KO for the US Title
The ref failed to see Owens' shoulder being off the mat because his eye was hurt, but the decision is final and AJ retain.
Shane grants Owens a rematch for the U.S. title at SummerSlam. Owens demands a better ref, so Bryan says it should be Shane. Owens continues to freak out until Shane says it's either a match with him as the ref or no match at all.

The Usos come out pretending to be The New Day with Big E's signature intro, but once everyone realizes it's Jimmy and Jey, the crowd gives . They brag about beating up New Day last week before leaving without a confrontation.


Sami Zayn vs. Aiden English

Mike and Maria Kanellis come out on the stage to make fun of Sami.


Becky Lynch and Naomi vs. Carmella and Natalya
Becky Lynch and Naomi won



Rusev vs. Chad Gable
Rusev won

Randy Orton comes down and has a staring contest with Rusev. Rusev keeps him from getting into the ring, but eventually, lets him in. Randy says Rusev has never defeated him, and if he wants an opponent for SummerSlam, he's got one.


John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (1 Contender Match) - Winner faces Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship.
Shinsuke Nakamura won and will be facing Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship.
Nakamura and Cena exchange looks at each other prior to Cena shaking his hand and holding up his hand in celebration.
The show ended with Nakamura celebrating.

Rating 70/70

The main event pretty much is what made the show stand out tonight. AJ vs. KO was pretty awesome. Good show leading up to SummerSlam.
