He then went on to say that Shawn Michaels was his mentor on WWE NXT and he would not be on RAW without him.

Finally, Ric Flair was on the roster at the same time as him and he was in awe of Ric.

SmackDown

SmackDown opens with an tribute card to Road Warrior Animal.

On Sunday, the Intercontinental Championship will be on the line in a ladder match. As two different Superstars have a claim to the championship, both IC title belts will be hanging above the ring during the Clash of Champions match. Tonight, WWE is hosting both belts over the ring ahead of the match.

Sami Zayn and current IC champ Jeff Hardy are now in the ring.

Before they hang the titles up above the ring, AJ Styles has some choice words for both his opponents.

Sami informs us that this match shouldn't be happening.

Sami asks Jeff if he has any idea how dangerous a ladder match can be.

Sami starts to climb out of the ring as AJ and Jeff stand face to face, jawjacking. Sami turns around and pushes a ladder on top of both of them.

As he heads back to the ring, very pleased with himself, Adam Pierce - who I guess is in charge around here these days - tells Sami that he's now in the Styles/Hardy match scheduled for tonight.

Jeff Hardy vs. Sami Zayn vs. AJ Styles

Sami Zayn won

AJ comes back to the ring and hits everyone with a ladder, then climbs the ladder to pull down the two title belts.

Bayley was out with her new sidekick, the steel chair she used to "break the Boss". She sat down on the ramp on SmackDown and said that Nikki Cross made a mistake thinking she was going to be easy to beat without Sasha. Bayley let Cross know that she had a new best friend as she stared menacingly at her steel chair.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Gran Metalik

After Cesaro attacks Lince Dorado while Dorado is checking on Metalik, Dorado shoves Kalisto to the mat and helps Metalik to the back. Kalisto is incredulous.

We got a short video hyping Jey Uso and Roman Reigns Universal Championship  match at Clash of Champions. After we saw Jey knocking on Roman's locker room backstage on SmackDown. Jey didn't get an answer and headed to the ring.

Jey Uso came out on SmackDown and asked Reigns what the deal was last week with the look that he gave Uso behind his back. Paul Heyman came outside the locker room and said that Reigns will answer that face to face, in the ring, tonight.

Baron Corbin vs. Matt Riddle on SmackDown

Baron Corbin won

Alexa Bliss vs. Lacey Evans

Alexa was having a normal match when we heard the Fiend's laughter that resulted in Alexa spacing out again and SmackDown headed for commercials. We returned to see Lacey in control but Bliss got back momentum with a dropkick.

The Fiend's creepy music came on and the lights turned red when Bliss lost it and attacked Lacey. She kept kicking her on the ground as the referee called the match due to disqualification.

Bliss took Lacey outside and hit the Sister Abigail before The Fiend appeared on the Titantron saying "let me in" and Alexa just laughed and left. As she left, Roman Reigns was making his entrance and she stared at the champion angrily.

Roman Reigns was out on SmackDown with Paul Heyman and Jey Uso came out as well. Roman said he would give Jey the title if he could but Jey wouldn't understand how to be a proper champion. He kept making underhanded insults and said the family depends on Roman as the 'tribal chief'. Roman even sneaked in a: 'it will never be you', for the added burn.

Jey got on the mic as Roman was walking out and said "What if you're wrong?". Jey was getting emotional as he said after Sunday, everyone would know who he is. Roman walked out without saying anything but he came back to hit Jey with a Superman Punch on the ramp and said that he would never take Roman's place at the 'head of the table'.

SmackDown

We start the night off with The Dirt Sheet with Miz & Morrison.

They show the clip from Talking Smack where The Miz forced SmackDown to trade Mandy Rose to RAW. The Miz says that it wasn't a personal decision, and he isn't trying to break up the greatest couple in WWE history.

Miz and Morrison claim that Otis will get over it, and Mandy already has. After all, her former boyfriend Dolph Ziggler is over there.

Otis storms out and knocks out both Miz and Morrison before launching their chairs into the ThunderDome. Tucker sneaks in and catches Miz and Morrison trying to escape. Heavy Machinery, mainly Otis, lays out the former SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

The Miz tries to escape, but he's stripped down to his undies.

It's time for A Moment of Bliss, with special guest Nikki Cross.

Cross, though getting planted with Sister Abigail by Alexa Bliss last week, became the #1 contender to Bayley's SmackDown Women's Championship. Bliss brings Cross on and states that they are still best friends.

Nikki Cross hugs Bliss and seems happy to be here.

Bliss says that she has to ask the hard questions, and starts off asking why this title match against Bayley is any different from all the matches they had this summer. Cross says that the difference is that there's no Sasha Banks.

Bliss is happy with the answer and excited to see what Cross will do at Clash of Champions.

Bliss says that she wishes she could give an answer. The only thing she can say is that she's scared that she's going through some kind of change.

Lacey Evans interrupts and says that Alexa Bliss leaving the match last week threw her off her game. She also states that Nikki Cross doesn't have a mean streak, and that's why she'll never beat Bayley.

Nikki steals Evans' handkerchief and blows her nose in it before kicking Evans in the face.

Lacey Evans rolls to the floor to get some sanitizer. She's taken ou with a basement dropkick. Inside the ring, Cross goes for a sleeper, but Evans drives her into the corner.

Cross responds with a crossbody and rolls Evans up in a cradle for a very close call.

A hype package surrounding Roman Reigns and Jey Uso narrated by Paul Heyman plays. Heyman goes through the accomplishments of both men but downplays Jey while inflating the ego of the Tribal Chief.

Sasha Banks joins Michael Cole and Corey Graves from the WWE Performance Center. We get a video package highlighting Bayley's psychotic attack against her former best friend.

Graves asks what the extent of Banks' injuries are. The Boss says she's still here.

Cole goes into the statement that Bayley made last week, claiming that Banks was just biding her time until she'd attack Bayley. However, Bayley was playing her for a fool all these years. They were never friends.

Banks nearly broke down in tears when she went over the bond they had over their love of wrestling.

Banks says that Bayley is naive. She's nothing without The Boss. Now that their friendship is over, Banks promises to take the one thing that Bayley loves. She'll take the SmackDown Women's Championship.

Sheamus sends the guard into him, and Big E gets his revenge by driving the guard into the windshield with a belly-to-belly. He's not finished yet and tosses the guard into a trunk.

Adam Pearce demands that E leave the arena. He agrees, but not before laying out a threat against the Celtic Warrior.

Roman Reigns is out with Paul Heyman for the Samoan Street Fight. Reigns says he's out here first because he doesn't want there to be any confusion. This is his yard, his island, his ring, his WWE.

This time, Roman and Jey are on the same page. Jey goes after Corbin while Reigns faces off against his longtime rival Sheamus.

Roman dumps Sheamus over the barricade. When he stands up, a superkick lays out the former champion. Corbin plants Jey with a Deep Six on the floor before going after Roman in the ring.
