SmackDown opens
with the announcers running down what we can expect on tonight's show. Kofi
Kingston and Xavier Woods come out to kick things off in the arena.
Kingston talks about how he always fights through the low times and it has allowed him to win the WWE title. The crowd chants "You deserve it." They throw to a vide of Kofi visiting Ghana as WWE champion.
Kofi gets a little emotional talking about being able to go home. He says being able to return to Ghana as a success until Dolph Ziggler comes out to interrupt him. Ziggler calls him an inspiration and he says that he respects Kofi too much to attack him right now. He says this is about why Ziggler is the way he is. He shows his own video package.
Ziggler says he has given everything to WWE but it was Kofi who got the WrestleMania moment. He says everyone will realize he is the hero of this story and it should have been him who won the title. Kingston plays a clip of the time Ziggler gave up the U.S. title for no reason.
Ziggler shows another video of when he attacked Kofi a few weeks ago.
The New Day vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
The New Day won
Ziggler attacks The New Day after the match.
Alexa Bliss is here to interview Bayley after the commercial. The Hugger comes out looking as happy as ever to be SmackDown women's champion. Bliss criticizes the coffee she was given and demands a new cup. Bayley looks confused why Bliss hasn't asked her anything yet. Bliss says she is going to wait until her coffee is delivered.
Bliss implies that Bayley won the title by luck and tries to talk up her own accomplishments. She asks if the title really means anything since Bayley is holding it. The champ says she won't take the bait but Bliss cuts her off when her coffee arrives. Bayley knocks the cup out of her hands and Alexa gets in her face. Carmella's music interrupts and she dances her way onto the stage.
Charlotte comes out and announces a women's match for tonight to end the segment.
R-Truth vs. Elias for the 24/7 Title in Lumberjack Match
Elias wins and becomes the new 24/7 champion. The
lumberjacks surround Elias after the match, and everyone starts brawling. Elias
somehow manages to crawl away from the fight, but Truth finds him. He chases
Elias under the ring and comes back out as the new champion after the ref calls
for the bell again. Drake Maverick chases him into the crowd.
Shane McMahon comes to the ring with The Revival
after the break to talk about Roman Reigns. Shane is pleased with Greg
Hamilton's intro for once.
Shane talks a bunch of trash to draw Reigns out.
The Big Dog takes out Dash and Dawson with ease. He starts walking to the ring
where Shane is waiting, but Drew McIntyre comes out of nowhere to deliver a
Claymore Kick. He brings Reigns in the ring so Shane can hit a Spear.
Alexa Bliss vs.
Charlotte Flair vs. Carmella in a Triple Threat - #1 Contender Alexa Bliss won
and will be facing Bayley at Stomping Grounds for the SmackDown Live Women's
Championship.
Lars Sullivan comes out for his
first official interview and the crowd keeps chanting Goldberg at him. Kayla
Braxton asks him why he does the things he does, and he gives a vaguely poetic
response. Lars says he has been called a freak his entire life and has learned
to accept it.
Andrade attacks Apollo Crews before
the bell and beats the life out of him. Finn Balor runs down to make the save
but he ends up on the receiving end of a Hammerlock DDT. Andrade leaves with
Zelina Vega to end the segment.
Goldberg talks about his upcoming
feud with The Undertaker and says he is going to be the same man who went 173-0
in WCW.
The sound of Undertaker's music
hits and he appears in the ring. Goldberg turns around and stands right in his
face. The lights go out again and Taker is gone. The crowd went nuts for their
face to face.
The segment ends with three minutes
left in the show. The announcers fill the rest of the time by hyping Super
ShowDown.
